Advocacy
Our members participate in programs that help our surrounding communities. Some of the activities that we’ve done in the past are:
- Participated in the YWCA of Union County’s Adopt-A-Room Program, where we rehabilitated a room to be used by a mother and her baby to escape an abusive situation.
- A private shopping event at Augusta Mae Boutique in Cranford that donated proceeds to Raphael’s Life House in Elizabeth. Raphael’s Life House is a transitional residence for young women who are homeless and pregnant.
- Hosted playground playdates for our children, where we collected clothing to be donated to the YWCA. This was a wonderful opportunity to teach our kids why we donate.
- Participated in the Pajama Program for Union County’s needy children.
- Sandwich Making for St. Joseph’s Social Services.
- Contributed to the Color A Smile program that sent our children’s artwork to senior citizens, troops overseas, and others who were in need of a smile.
Adult Activities
Organized local events for just the ladies are definitely not to miss! Some examples are:
- Two New Member Socials. Expect a fun evening of food, drinks, games and lots of laughs as we welcome our newest members.
- The Book Club meets monthly and is hosted in one of our members houses. Refreshments, including wine and light appetizers followed by the discussion of the book make this an enjoyable evening.
- Celebrate the release of Beaujolais Nouveau hosted at Cranford’s own Cafe Paris.
- The Holiday Dinner Meeting is held at the Hanson House and is a nice night out before the rush of the holiday season.
There are also events for couples:
- We sponsor Oktoberfest, which is organized by the Cranford Jaycees is always a great evening of drinks, food and live entertainment!
- The Post Holiday Social, which typically happens in January, is a fun night out where members catch up after the rush of the holiday season.
- Hosted in the spring, the Progressive Dinner is the highlight of the year; reserve your babysitter now! Successive dinner courses are prepared and eaten at the homes of different hosts throughout the night. Since each course is at a different location, its a great way to mix and mingle with other couples!
